Ivory with a slight gold edge and yellow green throat. It could use more buds. I almost discarded it several times but could not bring myself to do it. A couple of years ago a daylily with 12 buds won the Stout medal. So, my thought was to let the buyers decide if they like it. Fertile both ways.

Christmas in Connecticut is a 1945 movie starring Barbara Stanwyck. It’s about a food writer who has lied to her boss about being the perfect housewife. and she must use some deception when he and a war hero invite themselves for Christmas dinner. Yes-it’s schmaltzy, like any good Christmas movie LOL…$75

Red bitone with darker halo, yellow green throat, and salmon edge, paler sepals with extended yellow green throat with irregular red outline. Excellent bud count and branching. Tall-a great plant if you are looking for something for the back of the border (see image). Fertile both ways.

 Pale yellow with variable patterned color breaks of pale purple and rosy brown stripes, spots and streaks. A few fans were sold in late 2022 on the lily auction. It has always shown broken color for me. Fertile both ways. Passes on broken color-not sure what % of the time. Striking and beautiful….$250/SF.

I have not seen any kids yet. I hope to do so the summer of 2023. It reminds me of a broken heart-and hence I named it True Sadness--a song I like by the Avett Brothers. The chorus goes like this:

 “I still wake up shaken by dreams
And I hate to say it but the way it seems
Is that no one is fine
Take the time to peel a few layers
And you will find
True sadness”

 Seth Avett says the song is about all of life’s tragedies we go through-- a breakup, the sickness or the death of someone who you love.

 THE SALES OF THIS ONE WILL BE BY THE LILY AUCTION ONLY--so I do not have a price. I will sell some in 2023 or 2024. I may sell some seeds in 2023 on the auction. It is an unusual color combination for the broken color genre.

One of the largest and toothiest of this genre that I have seen. Every bloom is different, but they have always shown some color break. First blooms can be over 7”. It will pass on color breaks-not sure what percentage of the time…$395/SF
