We are located in Wallingford, Connecticut, approximately half way between Hartford
and New Haven. Our growing zone is about 6.We are approximately 15 miles from
Long Island Sound.
We grow over 1700 named varieties of daylilies as well as other perennials and some
unusual annuals. We also have many house plants. We have been hybridizing to create
our own varieties of daylilies, which is quite exciting. See the link below for more on
this. We have added some seedling images here.
We grow many newer varieties from the top hybridizers in the country.I have not seen
another garden in the Northeast with as many newer varieties. We have found there are
only a few southern hybridized daylilies that do not do well here.
Many of our sales are currently via The Daylily Exchange Auction site-we sell under
the seller's name"rich", in addition to having our own price list .Our plants are as large as
any we have gotten from anywhere in the country. Try us. I grow a lot of things in
pots.I don't skimp on anything. I have tried various potting mixes and found what I
think is the best. I add greensand, a slow release fertilizer, water retention granules, and
a bit of lime and Epsom salts. I send samples of the soil in the pots to be tested in early
spring to see if any specific soluble fertilizer is needed.I make sure they get watered
regularly (very important).
I also amend the soil heavily when I build a new bed.I use a lot of natural stuff--
compost, horse manure, cottonseed meal, alfalfa meal, etc
We welcome garden visitors, especially AHS members. Please call or e-mail first to
ensure we are home. We received AHS Display Garden approval in Sept. 2003. Garden

having an open house one weekend in July and will put it on the web site if and when
we decide to do so. PLEASE USE CARE WITH ANY WEB BASED DIRECTIONS
